BCB to Conduct Workshop for National Cricketers Following Taskin Ahmed Allegations

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced plans to conduct a workshop for national cricketers in August. This decision follows recent controversies surrounding Taskin Ahmed, the details of which are still unfolding. The workshop aims to educate players on their responsibilities and expected conduct, both on and off the field.

On Monday, a General Diary (GD) was filed against Taskin Ahmed at Mirpur Model Police Station. Sifatur Rahman Sourave accused the cricketer of assault and issuing threats. Sajjadur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station, confirmed the complaint.

According to the OC, the alleged incident occurred on Sunday night near Sony Cinema Hall. The GD states that Taskin supposedly summoned Sifatur to the location, physically assaulted him, and made threats. "Police are currently investigating the matter," the OC added.

When contacted by Cricbuzz, Taskin Ahmed refuted the allegations. "I can only say that the allegations are false and fabricated," he stated.

BCB media committee chairman Iftekhar Ahmed told Cricbuzz that the board cannot take action against the pacer at this time, as the matter is still under investigation.

"Let Taskin be proven guilty first," Iftekhar said. "There has been a case, and it will be followed by an investigation. It is beyond the cricket board now. Taskin says that he is not involved in it. Now, police will investigate it as there has been a GD. There will be an outcome, and let's wait for that."

Addressing the broader context, Iftekhar added: "We are planning to hold a short workshop with national cricketers in August as we feel we must remind them what they can do and what they cannot considering they are not only cricketers rather they are also idols of many youngsters and are being followed by them so they have some accountability towards their fans." The BCB aims to reinforce the players' responsibilities as role models.
