Nurul Hasan, a player who had fallen out of favor, has been named in Bangladesh's preliminary 25-man squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and the subsequent three-match T20I series against the Netherlands. The series is scheduled to take place later this month.

Despite consistent performances in domestic cricket, both Nurul Hasan and Mossadek Hossain had been previously overlooked. While Nurul secured a place in the preliminary squad, Mossadek was not selected, failing to impress the selection panel. He was also excluded from consideration for the A team tour.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, despite recent underwhelming performances in the T20I format, has retained his spot in the preliminary squad for the Asia Cup. His performances during Bangladesh's recent T20I tour of Sri Lanka and the series against Pakistan were not up to par.

Nurul, along with five other squad members, is expected to miss a significant portion of the preparation camp. They are scheduled to travel to Australia for the T20 Series 2025, which will be held in Darwin, Australia, later this month.

The players traveling to Australia on August 9 include:

  • Nurul Hasan
  • Mahidul Islam
  • Saif Hasan
  • Hasan Mahmud
  • Naim Sheikh

Following the tournament, the Bangladesh A team will participate in a four-day match against South Australia, marking their second appearance in the tournament after their debut in 2024.

According to a statement from the BCB, "The available players will report for a fitness camp at SBNCS, Mirpur on 6 August. The skill practice will begin at the SBNCS from 15 August before the camp moves to Sylhet on 20 August."

The Netherlands team is scheduled to arrive on August 26 and will play three T20Is in Sylhet on August 30, September 1, and September 3. They will depart on September 4, immediately after the final game of the series.
