South Africa secured a commanding victory over Zimbabwe by an innings and 236 runs on Tuesday, the third day of the second Test held at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The Proteas, despite fielding a less experienced team, displayed remarkable control throughout the match, ultimately winning the series 2-0.

Zimbabwe showed some resilience during the morning session, resuming at 51 for one. Nick Welch scored 55, and captain Craig Ervine contributed 49, following the early dismissal of Takudzwanashe Kaitano, who added 40 runs. However, this resistance was short-lived.

The Zimbabwean batting lineup crumbled after lunch. South African fast bowlers Corbin Bosch (4/38) and Codi Yusuf (2/38), along with left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy (3/77), caused a dramatic collapse, with six wickets falling for a mere 31 runs. A late 36-run partnership for the final wicket between Wellington Masakadza and Tanaka Chivanga only delayed the inevitable, as Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 220 in their second innings.

Stand-in captain Wiaan Mulder spearheaded South Africa's effort with an unbeaten 367 – the highest Test score by a South African – leading his team to a formidable 626 for five declared in their first innings.

This victory marks South Africa's 10th consecutive Test win, surpassing their previous record set between 2001 and 2003.

Mulder and wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne were the only players in this match's XI that also played in the World Test Championship final victory against Australia at Lord’s last month.

Zimbabwe's chances were hampered by the absence of key batters Brian Bennett, who suffered a concussion in the first Test, and Ben Curran, who was sidelined with a broken hand.

Despite fielding five debutants throughout the series, South Africa maintained dominance. The two teams will now meet again in Harare on Monday, where New Zealand will join them for a T20I triangular series.
