Napoli have reportedly sealed a deal to bring Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund to Serie A on a season-long loan, with the 22-year-old Denmark international set to undergo his medical in Italy this weekend.
The agreement includes an initial loan fee of six million euros, with an option that turns into an obligation if Antonio Conte’s side qualifies for next season’s Champions League. Should that condition be met, Hojlund’s move would become permanent for an additional forty-four million euros next summer.
This marks the end of what has been a frustrating spell at Old Trafford for the young forward. Signed in 2023 for a hefty fee from Atalanta, Hojlund struggled to find consistent form, scoring just ten goals in 52 appearances last season, including only four in the Premier League. His game time has dwindled further this season, especially after the arrival of Benjamin Sesko, pushing him down the pecking order under new boss Ruben Amorim.
For Napoli, the move comes at a crucial moment. With Romelu Lukaku sidelined through injury, the reigning Italian champions were desperate for a striker who could hit the ground running. Hojlund, who previously impressed in Serie A with Atalanta before his Manchester move, fits the bill perfectly.
The Dane is no stranger to Italian football, having made his name in Bergamo before earning his Premier League switch. Known for his pace, strength, and direct style of play, he now has the chance to reignite his career in southern Italy while helping Napoli fight on multiple fronts, including the Champions League.
If all goes to plan, Hojlund could soon be lining up alongside fellow former United player Scott McTominay, who joined Napoli a year ago, as the Partenopei look to defend their Serie A crown and push deep into Europe once again.
