Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan has opted out of the upcoming three-match T20I series against Netherlands to be with his unwell wife, Bangladesh Cricket Board officials confirmed on Tuesday.
"Mehidy took leave from August 20 to September 4 to be with his wife as she is not keeping well," a BCB official told Cricbuzz. "As a result, he is not flying to Sylhet for the skill camp ahead of the series against Netherlands."
The 28-year-old had been part of Bangladesh's fitness camp in Dhaka as preparation for both the Netherlands series and the Asia Cup, scheduled in the UAE from September 9. Mehidy last featured in Bangladesh's home T20I series against Pakistan.
On Tuesday evening, the Bangladesh squad shifted to Sylhet for their preparation camp. The Netherlands team is due to arrive on August 26 and will get three training days before the series begins.
The three-match series will be played entirely at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, starting August 30, with the second and third games on September 1 and 3.
